Tis' The Season! - Continued
We want to help as many people in need as we can, so here are the charities we will be working with. The Utah Food Bank, The Road Home Homeless Shelter, and a Sub for Santa family. You can see the fun foyer with the collection boxes and the lists of things people are in need of. We have set our goals and really hope to reach them. We know money is tight this year, but every little bit helps. There are many less fortunate families out there that really need our help. If we all work together we can really help make this a great holiday season for so many people. Please see Lynn if you have any further questions or suggestions. Thank you again for all of your support. We appreciate it very much!!!

Tis' The Season!
We want to make everyone aware of all the things we are doing to limit the spread of the flu and other illnesses this winter season.
We sanitize each and every toy and piece of equipment in each classroom and the common areas. We recommend that staff get vaccinated. We encourage staff to stay home if they are sick. We watch children and send them home if they are showing any signs of illness. We isolate the sick child(ren) from the other children in the school until the parents arrive to take them home. We follow good health practices by continually washing hands of both staff and children.
Here is what we need your help with: If you child is showing signs of illness, PLEASE keep them home. Please keep your child home until they are symptom free for at least 24 hours. Please contact the school if your child is diagnosed with any illness so we can inform other parents. Wash your hands as well as your child's hands upon arrival to the school.
We hope that if we all work together we can keep the illnesses to a minimum. Thank you for all your help in this matter.

New School Year
We have made it through out first full month of the new school year! So far things are going very well. The children are adjusting and the teachers are already falling in love with their new friends. We really do thank you for working with us and being patient during this transition.
Another reminder to turn in your emails so we can communicate with you and send you memos and reminders. We have found that it is easier for parents to know what is going on with the school if they are sent a quick email as opposed to a note in their child's cubby.
We are very encouraged by what we have seen so far this year and hope that you are too! Please feel free to talk to our email any of us anytime. Thanks for all you do!

The New Year
Welcome to the new school year. We have so many great things in store for the upcoming year. Just a quick update from back to school night for those who couldn't make it and a nice reminder for those who did.
Fundraising: We want to provide the best care possible and that takes money. We do many little fundraisers throughout the year to keep the “extra things” for the children. We want you to enjoy what we have to offer but not feel obligate to purchase anything. This month we have a coupon book that has hundreds of dollars worth of savings. This only costs $20 and $10 goes directly back to the school. We also have family portraits here on Sept. 18-19. There is a 420 donation to the school and you receive a free 11x14 portrait. If you sell these to friends and family you can earn more free products. See Lynn for details.
We really appreciate your input and opinions and want to hear from each of you. As always, never hesitate to talk to any of us.

August
Family Picnic - Saturday August 15th 11am to 1pm. We provide the main dish and you bring a side. It is a great day to socialize with old friends and make new ones, say goodbye to old teachers and hello to the new ones coming on board. It will be at Alta Canyon Park Pavilion 9500 south and 2000 east. we hope to see you there!
Also, we would like to help grant the wish of a child through the Make A Wish Rubber Ducky Derby. We have chosen Brian, a 16 year-old boy who has a type of bone cancer. His wish is to have a woodworking shop of his own. We will be selling ducks for $5.00 a duck. You will be entered into a drawing for prizes including a new car! This is a wonderful cause and we want to help out anyway we can. Our goal is to sell 200 ducks. That would be $1,000 towards Brian's wish. We hope if each family purchases on duck, we can reach our goal! We will post more information in the foyer.
The Children's Academy has very generous parents and we know that this is a goal we can achieve! Thanks again for your desire to help.

It's Almost Fund Raiser Time!
Mark your calendars now! Our 5th annual fundraiser will be Saturday, July 11, 2009. It will be held at the Cottonwood Market Street Grill. We will be hosting both a silent and live auction. Tickets will be $35 per person and include a FREE Kid's Night Out, if purchased before June 26th! This is a great night to socialize with other parents, relax and just have fun!
We are raising money for our “New Building Fund”! We are leasing our current property and would love to have our own. So, we are working hard to raise the capital needed for this large, but essential investment.
To help make this fundraiser the best possible, we are looking for a parent representative from each class. They will help us with creating a live auction basket. The classroom that raises the most money will win a great party!!! Please sign up at the front desk.
We are also in need of donations – both big and small – everything helps out. We appreciate all contributions and will publicize the companies that are kind enough to participate. If you know anyone interested, contact Lynn and lynn.curtis@comcast.net for more information.

Spring Is Here!
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8. Please take this time to let your child’s teacher know just how much you appreciate all they do. A thank you card, a picture drawn by your child, etc. are some simple ideas. We as management will be doing some special things for each teacher and will let you know secretly if we need any help with these. Please see Lynn, Lori, or Candice if you have any questions about any of this.
Please start planning now and get a head start on things. Teachers really look forward to this week and get very excited. Thank you very much for your help and support with this.

March
March means St. Patrick's day! And St. Patrick's day means the annual St. Patty's day parade. The parade is Saturday March 14th at 10:00a.m. We will be having a pot luck breakfast starting at 9:15. This is such a fun time to get out and be festive! We will be decorating the float as well as ourselves. Parents must stay with their children.
*This year we are not able to do T-shirts so feel free to wear ones from prior years or just wear green! We do have shirts on sale from the prior years at the front desk.
Also, this year we will be requiring each child to purchase their own field trip shirt. This will help keep our costs down and ensure that every child has the proper identification required by the state. Shirts will be available for $10.00 and we will be sending out order forms in April.

Happy New Year!
Seeing as how we are almost half way done with this school year that means it is time for Parent Teacher Conferences. These conferences are a great time for you as parents to meet one on one with your child’s teacher. Teachers have been preparing developmental guidelines and assessments to track how your child is developing.
Please fill out a sign up sheet in the foyer at your next visit. We look forward to seeing you there.
